About Me:
Rachel Hirst (née Steinkamp) is a Senior Game Writer/Narrative Designer, working on the hit branching narrative visual novel app Choices: Stories You Play (iOS peak #4 Grossing Games, #9 Grossing Overall). She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2015, with a Bachelor of Journalism with Highest Honors and a Bachelor of Theatre and Dance with a focus in acting with High Honors.
Her interest in writing can be traced all the way back to elementary school, where she created an anthology of fictional stories to include all her vocabulary words of the week. Later, it evolved into fan fiction in high school, then took a journalism spin with some video game writing in college. Ultimately, she landed in the mobile game space at Pixelberry Studios after college and hasn’t looked back.
Aside from writing, she has developed skills in a variety of creative fields: radio from her time with KPFT Houston and KOKE FM; video, audio, and social media journalism from her time at UT Austin with Texas Newswatch and Social News Network.
Currently, Rachel is located in Austin, TX, where as a Senior Game Writer and Writing Leadership, she’s overseeing the creative direction for Choices. Previous projects she’s worked on at Pixelberry include High School Story, Desire & Decorum, The Phantom Agent, Shipwrecked, Crimes of Passion, and many more.
When she isn't busy writing, you can find Rachel participating in all things nerdy — from hosting Dungeons & Dragons nights to replaying Skyrim and Mass Effect for the umpteenth time to binge-watching The Office and Star Wars. Get her started on anything in that realm, and she will talk your ear off.
Here you will find a small collection of her work from her projects at Pixelberry Studios to some of her audio and video portfolio to more! Just click a tab to get started.
